Black Iris Images is a husband and wife team with many years of organisational and people focused experience behind them.
Nigel Williams MBE
Nigel served in the Army for a full career in such diverse places as Germany the US and India. On leaving the Army in 2012, prior to establishing Black Iris Images, he had the great fortune to train under the tutelage of the excellent Paul Brooks, of First Point Photography in Bournemouth. Since then, he has applied his photography, people and organizational skills to the development of the business; he has photographed thousands of products, people and places in his role as a commercial, event and portrait photographer.
Maxine worked as a teacher in both the independent and state sectors and she has done a huge variety of interesting voluntary jobs. Her speciality as a teacher was Dance and Drama, so she has always had an eye for shape, form and composition. Now she does some of the photography but her primary role is setting up the image, organizing and arranging people and products to achieve the best effect. In the office, she is responsible for marketing, the task that Nigel describes as the hardest of them all.
Bristol was a natural selection for a base as Maxine trained at Redland College, Nigel worked at Abbey Wood and all three daughters went to school in Westbury-on-Trym while Mum and Dad were off having fun travelling the world. And we were very lucky to find a building, near the centre of the city, that could serve as our home and accommodate a photographic studio. Our studio is ideal for tasks ranging from portraiture and model/actor portfolio shoots to product photography of items small and large. However we frequently work 'off site', often using our studio equipment, in locations ranging from warehouses and car parks to stately homes and care homes.
